Answers to questions about the AMP 24 electric snow blower
1. Is it a hybrid?
No. The AMP 24 Sno-Thro is a 100% battery powered electric unit. No gas is required.
2. How long will it throw snow before it needs to be recharged?
Depending on snow conditions, the AMP 24 Sno-Thro will run 45 to 60 minutes on a single charge.
3. Do I have to buy a battery charger?
No. The AMP 24 Sno-Thro comes complete with a 5-amp charger. If you want a quicker charge, there is an optional 48v 20-amp charger is available.
4. How long does it take to recharge the batteries?
The AMP 24 Sno-Thro, when completely drained can be recharged in 6 to 7 hours. With the optional quick charge, it can be recharged in 2 to 3 hours. The charger is a smart charger and will automatically monitor the batteries, and charge if needed each time you plug it in after use. The battery charger has a hibernation feature which will “check” and charge the batteries every 30 days as needed.
5. Is it quieter than a gas-powered Sno-Thro?
Noise test have shown that the sound pressure at the operator’s position on the AMP 24 Sno-Thro is 73 dbA. This is 15dbA less in noise than a comparable gas-powered Sno-Thro.
6. What happens if the battery runs out while I am using the Amp 24, will it be stranded?
You will not be stranded in the middle of throwing snow due to the fact that the battery voltage on the AMP 24 is constantly monitored. When the voltage reaches a low level, the motor automatically shuts off. Simply wait a few moments and turn the unit back on to move it back to the charging location.
7. Is there a reduction in hand and arm vibration?
Tests have confirmed that the hand and arm vibration level on the AMP 24 Sno-Thro is 2.60m/s2 less which equates to a reduction of more than 80%.
8. What maintenance is required?
The AMP 24 Sno-Thro is virtually maintenance-free. There is no gasoline, oil or off-season storage preparation. The battery life and run time will begin to deteriorate after 200 charges/discharge cycles and will need to be replaced.

10. How do I start the AMP 24 Sno-Thro?
Starting the unit is as simple as unplugging it from the charger, pulling the PTO switch, and turning the key to the on position.
11. How is the AMP 24 Sno-Thro different from any other Ariens Sno-Thro?
This new machine is powered by a 4-HP brushless DC electric motor and energized by two 48-volt AGM Valve Regulated battery packs. Other than this feature, the AMP 24 is built to perform like a traditional Sno-Thro machine. The AMP 24 Sno-Thro is all-steel constructed, even the chute. It includes many of the same features as the gas-engine powered Ariens Compact 24 Sno-Thro such as six forward and two reverse speeds, Disc-O-Matic drive system, Quick-Turn chute rotation with a 205-degree turning radius, Remote Chute Deflector, 11-inch diameter steel serrated augers, 12-inch diameter impeller and directional snow tread tires.
12. Will it work for my snow removal needs?
This all-electric two-stage snow thrower has a 24-inch clearing width. It is perfect for all typical residential driveways and sidewalks. (A typical driveway is considered to be 2 cars wide, or 50’-200’ with a sidewalk.
13. Are there any special charging or storage requirements?
It is important that the AMP 24 batteries maintain a full charge in order to optimize the life of the battery. Therefore, when the product is not in use, it should always be connected to a functioning battery charger. Failure to keep the batteries fully charged will reduce battery life and void battery warranty.
14. Does the battery pack need to stay in a warm environment?
They do not need to be kept in warm environment, but should be plugged into a charger whenever the unit is not in use.
